The Wine

A single varietal Sauvignon Blanc, hand harvested from vineyards in the Leyda Valley.

Climate

Albaclara’s vineyards are located in the Leyda Valley, specifically in the area of Las Brisas de Santo Domingo, where the growing season began with cool temperatures during budbreak and flowering, resulting in smaller-than-usual clusters. Summer arrived with hot weather but lower average temperatures during February and March. These conditions, combined with good vine vigor from abundant winter rainfall, extended the growing season. The harvest took place mid-April, and this unique terroir gives the wine its distinctive saline and mineral notes.

Vineyards

Sited in the coastal Leyda Valley, Albaclara’s vineyards benefit from one of Chile’s most compelling cool-climate sites for Sauvignon Blanc alongside benchmarks like the Loire Valley, New Zealand, and Friuli. The wine’s name was inspired by the splendid sunrises rising over these vineyards.

Winemaking

Freshly harvested grapes were brought to the cellar, destemmed, and delicately pressed. Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks for 12 to 15 days at low temperature to preserve freshness. The wine was left to age on the lees, with delicate pump-overs performed every two weeks. Albaclara was bottled at the beginning of July 2024.

History

Sauvignon Blanc is a variety with great personality that fully expresses its potential only in select areas. In more recent times, Chile — and in particular the Leyda Valley’s coastal zone — has proven to be a first-rate wine-producing area for the grape. Albaclara is a single varietal expression, hand harvested from Leyda Valley vineyards.

Tasting Notes

Bright yellow in color. The nose offers aromas of citrus fruit and minerals typical of the Leyda Valley, alongside fresh hints of peaches, passion fruit, and mandarin oranges. The palate impresses with lively freshness and herbal notes of mint and wild mint.
