The Wine

A single varietal Chardonnay, hand-harvested from Haras de Pirque’s Casablanca Valley vineyards.

Climate

The 2024 growing season in Casablanca Valley benefited from full groundwater reservoirs, thanks to generous precipitation the previous season, and cool spring weather that delayed budbreak. Summer months brought lower-than-average temperatures, allowing healthy grapes to reach peak maturity at a measured pace. The grape harvest took place about 1–2 weeks later than usual.

Vineyards

The vineyards sit on north-east facing slopes in the Casablanca Valley, surrounded by hillsides rich in vegetation and olive groves. Their proximity to the coast brings delicate Pacific Ocean breezes and granite-based soils — conditions that guarantee a slow, steady ripening phase and enhance the variety’s characteristic aromas.

Winemaking

Grapes were hand harvested from each individual vineyard block, then gently pressed and left to settle briefly for natural clarification of the must. Alcoholic fermentation took place both in stainless steel tanks and, in part, in French oak barriques. After a period of aging on the lees, the wine was blended and bottled.

History

Haras de Pirque Chardonnay represents the finest expression of this grape variety in the Casablanca Valley — a region that has emerged as one of Chile’s premier sites for cool-climate whites, distinct from the estate’s Maipo Andes home.

Tasting Notes

Straw yellow with light green hues. The nose offers mineral notes and fresh fruit aromas, with hints of citrus, white flower blossoms, and herbal notes accompanying impressions of dried fruit. The palate is fresh and elegant, closing with citrus and mineral notes typical of the Casablanca Valley’s granite-based soils.
